Canon MX870 Scanning and Mac Firewall Question

I just bought my first Mac and today I used my scanner for the first time since the purchase. I have a Canon PIXMA MX870 Printer/Scanner that I have used for years and don't want to replace. I was able to get it set up with the iMac to print and scan, but every time I open the MP Navigator software and click scan, I get a warning window asking me to Allow or Deny the iMac to accept connections. I have gone into the Firewall app and checked and the MP Navigator software is set to allow connections, but every time I scan an item I have to give it permission and I wanted it to just be the default going forward. Any suggestions?

Have you tried removing it from the Firewall settings and re-adding it?
