Canon Pixma Pro9500

Hi there,

I recently got a Canon Pixma Pro9500 with the intention of using to print proofs of brochures and newsletters for my small home based graphic design business. Is this printer a good choice for tasks such as these? If not, is there anyone here who could recommend a good sub $1000 wide format alternative?

Sounds a bit much for printing proofs. The 9000 would probably do just as well, and at about half the cost. Dye vs. pigment ink - any preference?

I actually would have preferred the Pro9000 but it was out of stock and supposedly discontinued.

Is it right that pigment based inks take longer to dry compared to dye based?

That would be news to me. It's still available at all the online vendors I've seen.

Longer to dry and require special papers. Last longer, though, which is sort of irrelevant considering the 9000's ink is rated at 100 years plus.
