Very frustrated - I was looking for a printer for my father - found someone selling a Canon Pixma MG3520 online. Before I purchased it - I looked to make sure it 1) could print Black w/o having to have color installed. and 2) it was compatible with Mac OS 10.4. Three people said yes to the OS question. So I bought it. Now I find that there is no drivers via Canon's site for this OS system!!!!

Is there anything I can do to get my computer to recognize this printer? Or am I screwed?

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Do you mean a MG3520?

Try the Gutenprint drivers:
http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php
(version 5.2.9 for 10.4)

This looks extremely complicated - I'm looking at the manual and am completely lost. I know nothing about coding - using the terminal... etc. I was hoping it was as simple as installing something and choosing it from the list of printer settings.

I have installed this - now what? Can you explain in layman's terms?

I see a choice of generic & Gutenprint in the drop down menus, but THEN which one do I choose?

Disregard my previous post - I figured it out. Didin't realize this would show up in ALL printers. Got it printing.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!

You are my knight in shining armor!

Could you post a screenshot of what you are seeing?

Now to scanning...

Now that I got the printing part of this printer working, thanks to the Gutenprint Drivers, is there anything to be done about the scanning part? I Want to be able to scan photos onto the computer. But the software I find online talks about not finding the drive........

You could try the 10.6 Snow Leopard driver from Canon.
