Hello. I just got a 2020 iMac and I've tried to hook up my Canon PIXMA MG3620 printer wirelessly and for some reason it won't work. I went to the canon site and found my model and downloaded the program and all that but it just won't work. This printer is maybe 8 years old? maybe more. Could that be the issue? Thanks.

Yeah it's supported and the drivers are available for Big Sur

I'm assuming you have been in System Preferences > Printers and Scanners and tried adding the printer here?

Also check to make sure its not in standby and connected to your network.

Oh wow thank you!!!!!! So, I see two options to download in "Recommended"....

MG3600 series CUPS Printer Driver Ver. 16.40.1.0 (Mac)

ICA Driver Ver.4.1.3a (Mac)

and one options in "Optional"....

MG3600 series Full Driver & Software Package (Mac).

How would I know which one to use?

Well what are you looking for?

If you download the MG3600 series Full Driver & Software Package (Mac) its going to download all of the extra Cannon software which you may or may not use.

I tend not to do that because I don't use all the additional stuff, I just want the printer to print.

Either download and install the first two drivers or download the Full Driver & Software Package which should have everything.

I couldn’t for the life of me get it to connect wirelessly which stinks. Connection just kept failing. No idea why. It was recognizing it, I saw the name of the printer in the window, but in the next step it would fail. So I connected with the usb. So when I go to printer scanners it’s showing two printers, top one says just “series” and under “kind” is says “AirPrint” and the other says “series 2” and under “kind” it only says mg3600 series. Did I add too much? Any idea? Thanks a lot.

Hmmm I just had a look at the manual for wireless setup, it seems very complicated for the printer.

It maybe worth running through the list to verify its connected to your wireless network.

It looks like you need to download the additional network tool as well.

After a few tries it finally showed up on the list but still failed to connect.

as far as the additional network tool, I think I did that. I’m on OS Big Sur 11.1 and it looks like it’s only showing up to 10.14, could that be an issue? Thanks for this help.

It’s likely that guide wasn’t updated.

have a look at the original link - has the network app for Big Sur.

There is a lot there, what should I be looking at? lol Sorry, I'm not super savvy with this stuff.
