Hello to all,
Just wanted to pass along my delight for my new scanner
I purchased a Canon CanoScan 8400F from Amazon after my Canon LiDe 50 stopped working due to lack of drivers in Tiger (called Canon and they are aware of this but don't have a date when a driver will be out for it)
Well I'm glad it stopped working since the new scanner works great! I've been scanning for about 45 mins. now and I just about have everything in I wish to have scanned.
The scanner is fast (it has a seperate power cord and USB 2.0 which helps more than the LiDe50 powered through the usb cable). I get crisp scans from my pencil/ink drawings and the color has been dead on, at this point I'm not going to calibrate my screen like I was thinking about doing. The noise level is okay or I should say quieter than the Epson/Canon before this one as well as it scans smooth without any jerking noise from the (I guess) tracks/gears inside of it.
The software that came with it is fine for me since most stuff just gets imported from folders/desktop as I haven't setup PSE3 yet. Some time this weekend I'm going to try the neg. slide scanning unit that came with it and see if it's as friendly as others have said it is (will post back on this).
One thing that I just saw on TV was using the PDF button to keep track of all ones papers in well...a paperless enviroment, I'll use it as a good backup plan anyway. I've never even thought about it but hey, new scanner so I'm going to put it to work
Any Q's just ask and I'll try to let you know the answer on it, peace.
