Canon Scanner

Hi, I have a Canon Scanner 8600f that worked fine with lion. I got a new imac and did a clean install of lion and now i can't get my scanner to work. I downloaded the driver from the cannon web site but still nothing. I can't even get the imac to see it. I plugged it into a windows 7 box and it worked fine. What am I missing??? Thanks for your time

What was your previous Mac? Perhaps it was running the 32 bit kernel and your new Mac is running the 64 bit kernel and you need a 64 bit driver?

I was running a late 2009 imac with 10.7. I never did anything to make it work, just plunged it in to the usb port..

Try rebooting to the 32 bit kernel and see if it works (reboot holding down 3 and 2)
