Hey All.

Looking to get a Canon SD500 camera so I can dump more photos onto my new iBook (really love my iBook...its gonna make me buy all kinds of gadgets).

Anywho, any feedback on this camera? ANy owners out there? Any comments against?

Really I just want a great camera that I can stick in my pocket. Needs to take great pictures that are foucesed. I'm no camera expert yet, so dont need manual stuff....just point and shoot for now.

Thanks

I have one of the predecessors for this camera, the Canon S400 - it's a great point-and-shoot camera.
The new line of SD cameras are super-thin - I'm not sure if you're seen them in stores or not, but they would definitely qualify as something you could "stick in your pocket."
Here are a couple of digital camera websites that are worth looking at - good reviews as well as forums for discussion:

www.dpreview.com

www.dcresource.com

My advice would be to go to a nearby store & play with the various cameras. Also, if you already have a stock of particular media (SD, CF, etc.), that would be a factor in your decision as well.
If you're starting from scratch, the SD500 would be a great all-around P&S.

Good luck!

Good camera for the price, small. But watch the potential for static shocks while messing with connecting/disconnecting the camera to the USB ports.

The make is very fragile and vunerable then.

Rule of thumb, plug the camera-end of the USB cable in last, and unplug it first.

i have the canon sd400 and i too am in love with it.
but if you like taking it anywhere where it might be damaged (i love to take mine skiing) you'll want to invest in the "waterproof" enclosure.

I have the Canon SD500

It's a great little camera. Point and shoot of course but really nice looking pictures in almost every setting. Super small, as suggested above, you can stick it in your pocket and forget you're carrying it around. I've had it for about 3 1/2 months and don't regret the purchase at all. My sister bought one on my advice and really loves it too. Hope that helps.

Hey, I don't have the SD500 but i do have the model just below it. Its called the Ixus 50 here in Europe( SD400 in US i think). I got it cos i wanted something small and compact that i could take anywhere. I'm very happy with it. It takes great pics, has good battery life and it has an all metal construction which makes it quite rugged.

I just wish Dell would sell it on there site because the other dell cameras like the SD400 can get markdowns like this one...

$399 - 20% 3CP428PCG?BRMS - $35 GV377LSW212XB4 = $284

Thats 116 off and an insainly good deal.
