I'm purchasing a new camera and have it down to these two. The research I have done shows these two cameras to be very similar--the 870 has a bigger lcd, no optical viewfinder, and costs $35 more. Is their anything I am missing heree.... I am really stuck between these two.

Thanks For Your Help.
And Happy Birthday Steve Jobs/MacRumors :)

Have you considered the SD 850IS?
It's worth noting that the SD850 is 35mm–140mm, while the SD800/870 is 28mm–105mm (35mm equivalent, as always).

For just a $35 difference I would choose the SD870 over the 800. You get 1 more megapixel (with a larger sensor, according to the review I looked at) and a 0.5" bigger LCD. There are probably a number of other subtle changes between the two. The SD870 is a direct replacement, so given an insignificant price difference, why not go with the newer model. That's my thinking at least. :)

yea the reason I did not list the 850 is because of the lens. I like the 28mm lens a whole lot more. I think I will go with the 870IS as I never use the optical viewfinder anyhow. Thanks guys
