Usually we hear about Canon vs Nikon with Sony sidelined as an alternative choice. But in the point and shoot market, it seems that Sony is a viable contender, so I need a little help deciding which one to get.
I've been a Canon fan for many years, both for their point and shoots and DSLRs. I'm in love with their color rendition, the warm tones, soft skin, and vibrant saturation. A couple of months ago I upgraded my 450D to a D90 and found that Nikon, while slightly different, also produced really great colors.
Sony, however, is different. I love their design, but most of the pictures I've seen from Sony point and shoots seem to have cooler colors, darker tones, and mediocore saturation. Sometimes the pictures even seemed a bit "washed out". Sony's noise reduction techniques also seem a bit heavy-handed.
Does anyone have any experience with these two brands and can offer an opinion? The reason why I'm considering Sony is because of their design and Full HD recording, but both factors take a backseat to the image quailty of still images. I'm specifically considering the TX7 and SD4000 HS/SD3500.
Thanks!
