so apple dropped firewire port from the new macbook pro , i am trying to figure out how to connect cameras like canon XH-A1s (fire wire out ,no HDMI) with the new macbook pro??
They announced it along with a TB to gigabit ethernet adapter durring the event for the Retina MacBook Pro. It's mentioned at the bottom of Apple's thunderbolt page with the Thunderbolt Ready Devices under adapters.
"You have to wait until July, when the Thunderbolt-Firewire adapter is available, or you buy one of those expensive Thunderbolt hubs with Firewire."
Have you found a way to connect to Lion. My MacBook Pro will no longer recognize my camera. I was told it's no longer compatible now that Apple has upgraded to Lion.

What exact Mac and Mac OS X version do you use? What exact camera model do you have, if it is not the XHA1? What software do you use? What cable do you use?
To find out what Mac OS X version you run, click > About This Mac:
