Before you all say "holy ****, maybe I shouldn't get one of these or any other Canon out there..." I'm going to say that there is absolutely no problem with this product or any other product made by Canon that I have used.
With that being said, I recently sold my Canon SD600 Powershot digital camera so that I could *hopefully* film my brothers track meets clearer and with more ease than the camera. I'm pretty sure the picture is clearer but I still need to get a firewire cable so I can get what I have into iMovie then into an MPEG4 file or any other Quicktime file. However; man was it confusing. I kept not knowing how to rewind/fast forward it properly after reviewing the tape... Settings kept confusing me... it was all stressful.
I got the camcarder mainly for the ability to zoom (a lot) while filming-- with the camera, you could zoom, but not a lot and not while filming. (For example, if he's running the 400, he'll start on my side of the track and I can see him ok but when he's running on the other side of the track, I can't zoom in to see him/the other runners. It really annoys him and I. The ZR830 can zoom like that though.) Long story short, I only managed to successfully film 1 of his 4 races last meet and a few other things. There's huge gaps between the filming too.
I don't know what to do. should I keep this and hope for the best in the future or should I sell it and get a newer model [Canon] camera? What's the story on that new Canon TX-1? Does the Canon Powershot SD800 IS zoom while filming? Any help would be highly appreciated.
