cant access download folder

yesterday i noticed my dock was using 99% of my cpu and when i clicked the download folder it wouldnt open it and when i try to open it from finder it uses nearly all of the cpu and just does that little rainbow pinwheel but never opens anyone have any advice??
 
nevermind it was already posted as leopard finder using 99% and it was the same problem
