Hey guys, just got a new MacBook Pro, and so now I need to transfer the files on my old laptop over to the new Mac :)
came accros this article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2518
and am trying the direct connection method.
The mac 'detects' the Windows machine just fine, when i entered: smb://DNSname/ShareName

the mac returns with a dialogue asking for my user name and password.
however, whatever i try to put into that dialogue box fails – it keeps saying I have an incorrect user name/password...
i have turned on sharing on the windows PC, and have even created a new admin user account without a password on the windows PC, all with no avail.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance :)

If you are running MacOS X 10.6 and if you have access to the Windows machine, then it will automatically appear under SHARED in the Finder sidebar. Also, if you have SMB enabled on your Mac, then your Windows machine should see your Mac under My Network Places. You may move the files from either end. All you should need do is to double-click on the network volume icon and then enter the logon credentials for the remote computer.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148a Safari/6533.18.5)

Thats exactly it. The log on credentials wont let me though, saying i have an invalid user/password :(
