Can't access iphoto photos after upgrade

I have a macbook air and I upgraded from 10.6.8 to 10.9.5 and now I can't find my photos that I had in iphoto or the iphoto ap. I tried downloading iphoto 9.4.3 upgrade, but it wouldn't load.
Thanks for your help.
