I chose to edit, add phone number, add the number of the phone, hit next. I get error message
Cannot verify phone number
The phone number is already in use with another account
Short back story.
My number is new on a sim I just bought (Verizon). I placed it in this used phone that was associated with a relatives account (prior to wiping it clean). When the phone was turned on it asked if I wanted to associate this new number with the relatives existing Apple ID. I chose YES. (That was the mistake). The phone was then wiped and my own Apple ID was added to the phone and the above problem is where I’m at.
I used the relatives new phone with their Apple ID to remove my number from Apple ID screen, iMessage and FaceTime.
So now I don’t know what else to do
