my printer stopped working (os 10.4.11) some people told me to delete the printer and then re-add it in the prefs section. well, deleting it was simple enough but now i can't re-add it. i hit the add button and it does nothing. why is this happening, and how can i fix it?

It is not nice to start a second thread to deal with the same issue?

hey, you're paying attention! good for you.;) but seriously-
my experience has been that once you get a couple of answers on a (previous) thread, the responses begin to fade. plus this is kind of a new problem that was found when trying to fix the original problem.

Did you make sure you unlocked

the padlock at the bottom? Sounds weird, but that's jammed me up before. If so, can you get into any of the other areas, such as queue or options? Or is it just all greyed out?

yes, the padlock is unlocked. i even tried locking it, and then unlocking it to see if anything changed, but nope. when i push the plus button, it DOES go in, but nothing happens.

after reading through some of your recent threads, sounds like it's time to bite the bullet, back up that system and reload the OS from the original discs. Hate it when that happens.

Best to you and Cheers!

I ran into an issue where I couldn't add a printer and an archive and install was the only thing I found to fix the problem. The only time I've ever had to reinstall OS X.
