Can’t address email to similar contact

I’m posting in Mac OS because this only happens on my Mac.

My situation:

I am trying to send an email to bob@abc.com

I already have bob@xyz.com in my contacts.

As soon as I start typing bob@abc.com I get suggestions for bob@xyz.com.

I finish typing bob@abc.com and hit enter and the addresses changes to bob@xyz.com

How do I fix this? I can’t send emails to anyone that has a similar email address.
I am using Catalina.
