This is really mind boggling, I originally synced my ipad with my pbook, now on the imac, and cmd clicking doesn't give me the option to back it up, actually back up is nowhere to be found.... I am exasperated....

Does this have to do with syncing from more than one libraries....

sooo annnoying...:eek:
 
I had this same problem on my MacBook at first too. Go to ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist and look for the line that reads DeviceBackupsDisabled and make sure it's set to False. You can edit the file in Property List Editor if you have it installed or in TextEdit otherwise.
 
Not sure why this happens, because I know I never put that setting in myself to disable backups. Had to do an extensive search to find the solution myself after I first got my iPad and noticed it wasn't doing backups or even showing the right click option to do one manually.
