I'm trying to back up my leopard dvd onto a partion of a usb hard drive. I partitioned the drive correctly with disk utility. I used disk utility to rip the dvd installer to the hard drive. I can drag my partition that I want to back it up to to the destination BUT I can not drag the image file I just created as the source. Why not?

Can't back up my Leopard dvd!

That's what I'm trying to do.
Here are the steps I did
1) Turn on Mac
2) Plug in USB hard drive
3) Use disk utility to correctly partition usb hard drive
4) Put in OSX DVD
5) Make new image of OS X DVD on my desktop
6) Go to restore
7) Drag the partiton of my usb drive to destination
8) attempt to drag the dvd image on my desktop to the source but can't
