Find my iPhone in Finder, click on it. Message box comes up saying click trust. I do and the option to trust comes uop on the phone. When I click Trust on the phone it asks me to insert a code which hasn't shown up anywhere?

OK I am an idiot - I never thought they meant my device password (even though they said so). So confused between Apple ID and password, device password, and codes to authorize access between devices!
