The fact you can't use 3rd party music apps like Spotify, Soundcloud or podcasts with Apple's own podcast app is beyond ridiculous. It just makes the Apple Watch defunct.

I'm seriously thinking about selling my Series 2 and get a knock-off clone Chinese version which has a SIM card built in. Its just so frustrating.

There was a rumor recently that Apple will introduce Stream Kit at WWDC this summer. I'm genuinely surprised there isn't a native, first party podcast app, and, as the owner of the S3 Cellular, I'm dreaming of the ability to stream Spotify. I hope it happens.

You should blame Spotify for failing to make Apple Watch app. Nobody prevent them to do one.

As for Podcast, it will come.

Last time I checked, Spotify discontinued their app for the Apple Watch though, nothing Apple did.

They didn't "discontinue". They never make one in the 1st place.. presumably out of spite of Apple (whom they deem their major competitor).

I thought I heard somewhere they had one and then ended up taking it off the App Store?

Just recently picked up a Series 1 to give it a whirl and I fully agree. I thought I’d be able to live with the generic “Now Playing” screen, but I just want more control. I want to easily be able to scroll through my podcast subs and music playlists front Spotify.

This just seems like a basic thing that should exist given how unnecessary the watch is as a whole.
