Can't boot from DVD

Hey,
I was trying to boot from my Tiger disk and every time I hold down C on startup the computer just spits the disk out after trying to read it. I can't seem to think of anything here

Any ideas here? It does this with any bootable disk.

reset the pram?

that would reset all boot disks, so its worth a shot
