I bought an express card slot SSD. I cloned my drive to it and I can't boot from it. I can choose it as a startup disk from system preferences but i get the question mark folder icon when i try to boot from it.

So I reformatted and did a clean install. Same problem.

I know others have installed snow leopard on SSD express card. Not sure why this isn't working. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

In Disk Utility, is the SSD GUID Partition Table, Apple Map Partition, or Master Boot Record? If either of the latter two, that is the issue. You need to repartition the drive as GUID Partition Table to be able to boot an Intel-based Mac. Cloning generally copies the data but doesn't overwrite the partitioning scheme in use on the drive.

Sorry i didn't mention that it is GUID. reformatted it twice. even did it from a different macbook pro.

Not sure whats up.
