Can't boot iMacG5 from Leopard DVD

I just can't boot my iMac G5 from the Leopard DVD. I use the 'hold c' technique and i also inserted the DVD to reboot from finder but when it reboots, after the apple logo the screen turns gray and the colored spining disc appears. It keeps like that for ages.
I'm usin an external Lacie writemaster to read the DVD cos the internal can't read DL-DVDs. Anyone having the same problem?

I don't think there has ever been a dvd drive that cannot read DL, since that is the "standard" movie dvd format. Must be some other problem, but I don't know what.
