Cant boot up

I have a year old mac book pro and cannot boot up. The screen has an icon that looks like a file folder and a question mark in the icon. Can someone help me? I am a windows guy and this is my wifes computer so I am in trouble.

The computer cannot find a bootable drive..

If it's under warranty take it to the Apple Store if not it'll probably need a new HDD..
