Cant change channel on Airpot Express

I have been trying to change the channel on my airport express because I am in a dorm with a lot of other wireless routers. Now went into airport admin utility and changed it then the airport rebooted. But after it rebooted I couldn’t pick up the signal anymore, it was gone. Not even MacStumbler could find it, it wasn’t transmitting. The only way to fix it was to hit the little reset button on it and redo all the settings.

What’s wrong and how can I fix it?
