Hey everyone! Ive been having trouble changing my docks apperance, ive followed every instruction. I see my dock dissapear, and it reappears but in no way different. What could be wrong?

The dock at the bottom, the thing that contains all my main apps. Im trying to modify the look of the 'bar' behind it. Right now its a long rectangle (stock), and i want to change it with another I found. They even have an app with it that was supposed to do it for you. I tried with the app, and will that 'killall dock' thing in the terminal, to no avail

That's kind of what I meant. What app? Did you check out any support pages about that app?

We're not mind readers with what you're working with :)

On top of that, what OS version even?

I have a 2.0ghz UB macbook, I think it has leopard on it since i bought it.

I have a folder i downloaded with a bunch of PNG's inside, little dots and long bars which im guessing are going to become my dock.

I try to make it work with: http://www.dockulicious.com/download

Maybe this will help:

According to Dockchanger, my current dock appears as the one I wanted. But only in dockchanger, my actual dock is just surrounded by a gray rectangle.

Also... I noticed this: Sometimes in my web browser, pictures show up as a blue square with a question mark in them... Whats this about? :S

Candybar and DockColor have both worked for me in changing the 3D dock. They both also allow me to revert to the original in a matter of clicks. I know its possible to change the dock without using an app, but its riskier as its really easy to mix up the files etc.

Wait, are you dropping the unzipped folder on the dockulicious app? This happened to me. You need to drop the .zip onto the app. The .zip of the folder should be in the trash.

I am doing it correctly i KNOW it.

I think my dock is just permanently ****ed.

Restoring it does nothing, as does any attempt to make it change not work.

No, you aren't. You need to drop the ZIP file into the app, not the folder. Most likely you have Safari set to automatically open safe file types. This is automatically unzip the file and place it in the trash, leaving you with the FOLDER of PNGs. You have to take the zip from the trash and drag THAT into the app. It will work if you do this.

Please confirm you have the default 3D dock and not the (also built-in) 2D version.
Example: click (3D on top, 2D below)

If you have the 2D dock, convert it back to the 3D version:
Code:
defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean NO; killall Dock

Oh wow thanks this fixed everything! Thanks a ton :D
