I've noticed today (15 days after MBP arrival) that I can't click the top side of the trackpad. Moreover, the bottom side of the trackpad is slightly sunked down, as in not level with the palm rest area. In fact, the middle-top area of the trackpad is virtually unclickable, as the trackpad starts to bend if I press too hard. Is this normal?

Yes, it's normal. That's the design, the top is unclickable.

It will get progressively easier to click as you move down the trackpad.

Wow, never noticed this. I did notice that I compulsively try to click at the bottom since I'm so used to buttons at the bottom of a trackpad.

Yes, it is completely normal.

And if you press the top middle side of Trackpad really hard, this ugly thing might happen:
