In attempting to fix another issue, I consulted this forum and entered the following in teminal:

sudo launchctl -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist

That's when my internet stopped working. Modem is fine. All other boxes in the house access internet just fine via hard wire or WiFi. All settings in preferences/network are fine with green lights for ethernet and WiFi connection. I obviously screwed the pooch by messing with sudo. Anyone got an idea how to fix? Will recovery via Time Machine do the trick or will I have to re-install the OS?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe you hosed bonjour, which would hose DNS, which would hose internet.

But a simple restart might get you going again. The command you listed doesn't have a "load" or "unload", but maybe that's what happened. If you rewrote that file then you might need to do what Apple suggested. But I would have thought you would have noticed that, although the "-w" argument could've changed something. http://www.unix.com/man-page/All/1/launchctl/
