I'm having an issue with internet sharing between a powerbook g4 and a macbook pro, both using Tiger. This is strange because I connect the same way on a daily basis and today is the first time that this is happening to me.

I'm connected via dial up on the powerbook g4 and sharing the connection through built-in ethernet. Everything is set up right, the macbook pro even says in the network pane "built in ethernet is currently active with IP ... You are connected to the internet via built in ethernet." Everytime I open Safari or Firefox nothing loads no matter what sites I try to go to.

I tried connecting a firewire cable between the two and on the network pane of the macbook pro it says "firewire is connected, but your computer does not have an IP address"

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
