can't connect to wifi

My phone on ios 8 all of a sudden won't connect to wifi.

I didn't turn wifi off but it is off.

I cant slide the slider across in wifi settings to turn it on.

I cant find anything else in settings that would be effecting this and I didn't adjust anything in the last few days.

I have just done an itunes restore and I still can't turn it on.

Can anybody help with any ideas?

It's a hardware issue.
Sounds like the wifi antenna or wifi chip died.

I just restored as a new phone and not from backup and no wifi again.

And just got text to from o2 to say used 80% of data without realising.

If that happened would the wifi toggle switch just appear grey and non functional without any other information?

I wonder if I could get confirmation of an error anywhere - like in itunes?

sooooo... Did you make the appointment with the genius bar then? Its a hardware issue, and nobody on this forum can help you with this. Time to take it in, and you will get a replacement.

Doubt that since it is 2 years old?

So, is there no way to obtain info from the report which says its has a problem in this area?

Ok so your only option is to pay apple for one of their replacement phones with is usually like $269 if you are out of warranty. Then you will be all set. Or you could replace it by getting a used device from ebay. As for this phone, its trash. I use an idevice repair guy to service the 3500 ipads I manage at work, and anytime we have a bad wifi chip, its garbage and we pay the replacment cost for a new(refurb) device. Its not going to get fixed, because the cost of parts and service would be more than buying a new device or atleast the replacement one from apple.

No, in some cases its grey and other cases completely disabled like yours.
There is no confirmation error message that will tell you that your wifi chip is dead.
Try the apple store and they can confirm what the problem really is. Or bring it to any 3rd party iphone repair place to see if they can repair it for you.
Again, its not something that can be fixed with software or restores etc...

Thanks, I was thinking about getting a 6 plus anyway. I got a 6 for a present for someone and I like it.
