Hey All,

If I try to connect to my iMac from my iBook, it won't let me connect using my shortname. I have to type in my full name (with caps and spaces). But if I do it the other way around-connect FROM my iMac to my iBook, the shortname works fine. On both machines, I have the same user account name and password. Both are running 10.5.8.

Anyone know why this would be?
Thanx

This may seem stupid, but do both shortnames begin with a lowercase (or uppercase) letter? I have run into cases where a name wouldn't be accepted because they both didn't begin with the same case.

It also depends on the service. In my experience, AFP will work regardless of case. But Screen Sharing will not.

Good point, I'll double check but almost certain they are identical and both lower case. Thanks
