Can't Copy/Paste and Missing Spotlight Icon

Hello
I recently found that my Spotlight icon in the upper right corner is now missing. I didn't do any hacks/mods to remove it, just all of a sudden a few days ago after a restart it's gone. Any suggestions to get it back?

And also I'm having a lot a trouble copy and pasting within Safari 3.0.4. If i try and copy using either Apple+C or right click the selected text and try to paste it ANYWHERE (Safari, Word, iTunes) it won't even show up as having text on the clipboard.

I'm running Leopard 10.5.1 on a Macbook Core Duo....any help?

Same issue

I'm suffering the same issues, both with Spotlight and with Safari.

I just started having this problem a day or so ago. I created a new user to see if it was related to my user but it's happening for the second user also so it doesn't appear to be a user preference problem.

try opening Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder and force quitting "SystemUIServer".

Although a rebooting alone wouldn't solve mine, doing a repair disk permissions followed by rebooting did fix it in my case.
