In most other word editing apps, one can select text from different parts of the document and paste it. For example:

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog, and as a result, the sheep was eaten by the fox. The dog was punished for his foolishness.

In TextEdit, you could select "The quick brown fox" and then, whilst holding down CMD, you could also select "punished for his foolishness." You could then press CMD + C and copy those phrases, so when you pasted the text, it would come out as "The quick brown fox punished for his foolishness."

In iWork Pages, however, this doesn't work (it also doesn't work in Safari). Any ideas as to how to get this to work?
