cant copy to a protable hard drive .sometimes

I just copied files onto my old imac from a portable hard drive.
.
My new imac wont allow me to copy any files onto the portable hard drive.

Why?
 
Right click/option click > Get info. What is the format of the drive?

Silly question I know but lets start with the basic.
