iOS Can't create an xdatamodel

I am trying to add a data model to an existing project but when the xdatamodel is created I get a blue folder instead of the data model which when selected shows No Editor where the graphic model should be. The folder contains nothing when expanded.

I have linked to the CordData.Framework, and am creating the model by:

File -> New File...-> iPnone OS -> Resource -> Data Model -> Next -> naming the model -> next -> finish.

I'm pretty sure I have done it this way before. What am I doing wrong.
