I just picked up a T-Mobile iPad Air from an Apple store and one of the first things I wanted to verify was the free cellular data they intend to offer, but unfortunately I'm not able to create a new account. I get to the field where it verifies the complexity of the password I've chosen but it rejects it even though I'm positive what I entered complies. Apparently their new-customer registration system is down at the moment. Not a good first impression considering I was skeptical of selecting a carrier other than AT&T or Verizon, which I have previous experience with. Hopefully it will be back online soon.
Also disappointing are the prices of the daily and weekly data passes. In the press release the daily 500MB pass was supposed to be $5.00, instead on the device it is now $10.00. And the weekly pass with 1GB was going to be $10.00 but it is now $15.00. Another disappointment.
Finally, when I spoke to a technical support rep, he said the free data allotment would be used first before any passes one buys get used. I hope he is wrong. If I purchase a pass, I want it to begin immediately, and when it expires, I want to free data to be there for the remainder of the month.
My impression isn't very favorable so far, but fortunately exchanging the iPad for a different carrier isn't to difficult.
