Alright, so I'm pretty overdue for a laptop upgrade.
I'm a professional working in the audio design industry, so a "Pro" branded laptop is essential to me. That said I don't really care too much for interchanging RAM and internal drives, myself. I've been there done that with building my own rigs, and put that in the past as well as Linux/Windows OS's.
I've been used to working in a 17" screen workspace for the past 6 years, but that 15" retina display is really ****** tempting. That said, a refurb'd 17" would bring me back to my familiar and friendly display, with considerably less cost.
I'm also worried that I keep hearing a lot of things won't be ready for the retina display, and as I use a variety of programs in my work I'm worried about the amount of time it'll take for my industry to catch up with something not directly related to audio quality.
I do however, like to buy the best of the best when I update to a new machine. I have to spend a LOT of time with this thing so comfort/top-of-the-line-stats and everything is a big part. I'm half tempted to get the retina-display for a 10-day spin or so and then if I'm not 100% happy, test apple's return policy.
What do you think.
