If you don't need the space don't waste the money. I have a 128 and only have 44gb used. After partition and operating system I had just over a 100gb free before anything went on the computer.

Wait for the next generation of SSDs as they should be better and most likely a better value with newer tech.

SSDs are still relatively new - your best bet is to wait for new products to surface, thus lowering the price and at the same time giving you a wider selection

I have the Intel X25 160GB Gen 2 and couldn't be happier. I managed to get a great deal from a guy on Craigslist. Brand new in the box for $300.

Yeah, in a year or so I'll be amazed that I paid that much for such a small capacity drive but I'm living in the moment! :p

How does this hard drive do without TRIM Support in OS X? Or does this harddrive even support TRIM? Pretty much what stops this from degrading over time

Well, I've been doing a significant amount of copying files to the drive, removing and copying new. I've seen a tiny bit of slowdown but nothing that really bothers me just yet.

I just purchased my wife a 13 inch MBP with a standard HDD. After using my MBP with the Intel SSD hers seems impossibly slow. Takes FOREVER to boot (in my mind) and apps take a long time to start up. The SSD spoils you and you don't realize how much until you go back to a traditional HD.

Keep in mind, even with a slowdown without TRIM, the SSD is still WAY faster even on its worst day.

I was extremely hesitant to spend the money and make the jump and must have asked a million questions both here and to people around me who know about these drives. So far, no complaints at all.

Great Thanks! I just bought the Intel X25 - M 160GB and it should be in, in a couple days. My question is what should I do when I first get it. Should I update the firmware? If so how do i got about doing that? I know that I format it the same way I would a regular hard drive I really just want to know about updating the firmware!

as someone mentioned above, intel g3 is scheduled for q4 2010. SOON!

but they are for large sized SSDs.

still, g2 price might drop once g3 is released.

- i guess you already purchased lol -

Well I purchased it from bestbuy and paid for overnight shipping and well they said that they don't have any instock and they just submitted the order to the Manufactuer and that it will ship wednesday instead of today
