So for years I was working as a fine art photographer and was topically working with 42mp raw files and 10-20gb files full of layers in photoshop. But last year I gave up my pro camera and started learning how to paint instead. I’m in the market for a new computer but now sure what I need anymore. It used to be give me all the ram humanly possible. But now I use a 20mp camera and photoshop just for setting up reference photos and then processing photos of art.

I used to have the top of the line MacBook and 2tb drive, then downgraded to the M1 13” is When it came out, I definitely hit walls with the ram once in a while cause I multi task between 5 applications including photoshop and streaming and I’ve used about 600g of my 1tb now.

I want to go with the 16 for the screen real estate but can’t decide on the rest. And is it worth about $400 to go from 1tb to 2? I just dumped a lot of files on to an external for the 13” but am wondering if 1tb is future proof..?

The one up from the baseline model should be ideal:

10-Core CPU
16-Core GPU
16GB Unified Memory
1TB SSD Storage

If you can stretch to 2TB I would but only if you think you need it.
