Can't delete emails

I can't delete emails on my phone. It allows me to delete some and then phone crashes and returns to home screen. There are also about 10-15 blank emails dated 12-30-00 at the end. The only thing that shows up for those emails is the date. I tried restarting and the problem continues. Any ideas or is this a genius bar trip?
