EDIT:
Well...I just rememberd the "Disk Utility " and my disk needed repair so I solved it. However, this was NOT the solution yesterday as i tried it. It was probably a mix between uninstall paragon, reseting the trash on my usb drive and the disk repair. So it all good now!
This threas will maybe good for people having the same problem if they find it through google?
Hi. Some years ago i used a usb-hdd for my windows pc. Now i use mac. I use Paragon NTFS so i can read and write to it. I used a "free" version of it and it worked just fine until recently i tried to delete files from my usb-drive. My mac crashed pretty much every time i tried to empty it in different ways. Using terminal commands and holding down alt-key and stuff like that. Another user from a forum took a look at a log, i think it was called "kernel panic log" or something like that and he said it was something wrong with paragon. So i uninstalled it and downloaded a trial version from their webiste.
That only partially solved the problem. I was able to delete some of the files but not all of them. However, my computer dont crash anymore when i try to empty it so thats something. But i still would be able to empty it!
It works fine to empty it when i put new files in it. Either from my internal ssd drive or the usb-drive. The old files is still there and the old files is really old, they are back from when i downloaded them on my windows pc. So can there be something with permissions? Anyway the files aren´t regular .avi/.mp4 but UNIX exe files and some empty folders. Well they were .avis but now they are not.
Ive tried pretty much every guide there is, altogether I've spend about 3-4 hours on this problem and I'm getting pretty tired of it.
Do you guys have any thoughts or tips. Is there any logs that you could look at to help me?
the srm -r command only delets the "info" about the file. From being about 300 kb it now ways "zero bytes" after the command.
srm -r /Volumes/qadde/.Trashes/501/The\afasf\
srm: unable to remove /Volumes/qadde/.Trashes/501/The\afasf: Input/output error
is what i get.
I also tried the sudo rm -ri /Volumes/qadde/.Trashes
and I'm able to examine and "delete" al files in terminal and when i come to the last line it this happends;
remove /Volumes/qadde/.Trashes/501? y
rm: /Volumes/qadde/.Trashes/501: Directory not empty
remove /Volumes/qadde/.Trashes? y
rm: /Volumes/qadde/.Trashes: Directory not empty
myname-MacBook-Air:~ myname$
And the files is still in my trash folder.
Any ideas what to do? I would really appreciate some help here!
