So I tried to install Windows 10 on my mac alongside MacOS. Its a 2012 mac that I upgraded with a 120gb SSD and moved the HDD to the disc drive slot. From googling it seems impossible to get windows on the HDD, which is fine, so I tried to put it on the SSD. BootCamp just kept getting stuck when creating the partition for windows so I gave up on that and just created one with Disk Utility. All was well until I went to the windows installer and it told me it needed atleast 33gb of space and I had only created a 30gb Partition. (It only needs enough space for windows because I can install programs etc on the HDD.)

So I went back to MacOS to resize the partition but now im locked out. There is a "Microsoft Reserved" partition that is stopping me from being able to modify any partitions on my Mac and it wont let me delete it. Help please? Google doesnt seem to help much with exact relation to my issue.

The reserved partition is a recovery partition that is always created during the windows installation process on a pc unless partitions are created prior to windows installation.

For a Mac, I don't know of a way to prevent the creation of this recovery partition using the boot camp process or how to remove it via disk utility.

Do you have a time machine backup of your macOS? You may have to erase the entire disc and start over.

Would the disk part commands be the same as they are on a windows machine?
very similar yes. if you are already familiar with DOS commands and DISKPART on the PC side then you are well equipped :)
