I'm trying to downgrade my iphone 3gs from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2 so I can jailbreak it. I get an error message that says "The iphone 'iphone' could not be restored. The device is not eligible for the requested build." I've tried turning off my airport and I get a different message that says something like it can't access the itunes activation server or whatever. What does the internet have to do with restoring an iphone? Why do you now have to be connected to the internet to restore an iphone to firmware other than the current? You don't have to be connected to the internet to listen to music in itunes so wtf?

You answered your own question. iTunes activation server. Google can be your friend.
