it is your router
you need to forward your port

I'd recommend the newly released uTorrent for Mac.
Everybody says it works way better than other Torrent programs they have tried.

THe beta is available here.

Bear in mind it is a beta..so is likely to be buggy.

Transmission is an awesome app if you can get it working.

Step by Step Help for Port Forwarding

can you give me a step by step instruction. I tried. I'm using Transmission or should say I'm trying but cannot get it to dl because the port is not forwarded.

I'm new to Mac and stupid so go slow :) Thanks

thats not the link to transmission, that's the link to learn how to port forward.

google 'transmission mac' and you'll find the program. then click the link you were given to find your specific router so you can learn how to port forward.
I clicked on the link in the post above mine. It asks you to id your router - Linksys WRTGS v.5 (It didn't have it so I used v.4. The next window is to select the program. Transmission is not listed.

^ obviously portforward.com is targeted more at Windows and so no Mac torrent apps are listed.

click your router and then uTorrent and then only follow the steps to open the port number of your choice in your router. then go into your Torrent app's preferences and plug in the port number.
