Can't download apps although it's showing updates are available?

I'm actually getting the exact same issue this person is having here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3372897?start=0&tstart=0

Essentially I want to update the apps on my iphone, so I log on to itunes in my Macbook pro, see that there is the number "15" next to Apps. I click on the Apps... then click on the "15 Updates Available" link after which I get greeted with the notification:

"No updates are currently available. To check for updates for another Apple ID, sign in with that Apple ID".

Any advice?
