Can't download mac app store?

I have a aluminum body MACBOOK (the ones that were discontinued a while back) - software Mac OS X 10.5.8

I know to download the mac app store, you have to get the software update, yet when i click the apple and software update, only the iTunes, Java, and Safari updates come up. I know the software update is 10.6.6 or something like that that includes the app store. ? Why can't i get this? did they discontinue UPDATES as well?!

The upgrade from 10.5.anything to 10.6.anything is not free: you have to go to a shop and buy a copy of OSX Snow Leopard.
