UPDATE: Issue resolved. Thanks to everyone who responded for their assistance. There appears to be a "lag" in the App Store between the installer being deleted from my MBP SSD and the App Store recognizing the installer was deleted. The link on the App Store now says "Download" instead of "Open." Again, Thanks to all for the kind assistance.

I searched for the answer but couldn't find it so here goes .... I downloaded the Mojave 10.14.0 installer, created a bootable flash drive, clean installed Mojave on an external SSD so I could "try it out" before installing it on my production MBP. After creating the bootable flash drive I deleted the installer from my Applications folder and emptied the trash bin, so there should be no remnant of the installer on my MBP. I'd like to update my bootable flash drive to Mojave 10.14.2, but the App Store link shows "Open" instead of "Download." Any suggestions on how I can locate and download the updated Mojave installer? Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. The Combo update will allow me to update my test bed Mojave install, but it won't allow me to create a new bootable flash drive installer. I'm looking to download a fresh copy of the entire 10.14.2 installer to update my bootable flash drive installer.

Here are the direct links for the Mojave 10.14.2…

simple updater — https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1986?locale=en_US

and

combo updater — https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1987?locale=en_US.

What exactly happens when you click "Open"?
If the installer opens immediately, you know you still have it somewhere, and you can right-click on the installer icon in your Dock, choose "Show in Finder" under Options, which will show you where the installer app is located. Quit the installer. Drag that app to the trash (and empty the trash!). Try the App Store again. It should download properly this time.

Thanks for your reply. When I click "Open" nothing happens. As I mentioned, I deleted the 10.14.0 installer and emptied the trash after I created a bootable flash drive installer. I've tried the App Store multiple times and the link shown is "Open" vice "Download." When I go to "Purchased" in the App Store I can see all of the previous MacOS and OSX versions that I've downloaded listed, but not Mojave. I'm not sure what the problem is but at this point I can't re-download a fresh copy of the Mojave 10.14.2 installer from the App Store. I've also tried downloading the Mojave installer on my 2010 Mac Mini, but since Mojave won't run on that computer the App Store won't let me download it.

You can use the installinstallmacos.py script to download the 10.14.2 full installer. (google it.)

Thanks for your reply. Interesting. I've not used installinstallmacos.py before, I'm gonna have to check it out. Just for grins I went back into the App Store just now and lo and behold the link to Mojave now says "Download." Ain't life grand?
