Can't download updates

I have a macbook pro. I have been trying to download updates for a couple years but can't. The following message comes up:

The digital signature for this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed by "Apple".

Does anyone know what this means?

A couple of years You really should have contacted Apple about this sooner. You could try a couple of things before you do, but I doubt they will help:

1) Empty your Safari cache (File menu in Safari> empty cache.

2) Re-set Safari, File menu>re-set Safari

3) Perform a PRAM re-set:

4) Reset SMC:

If these do not solve your issues contact Apple.

You need to repair disk permissions in Disk Utility.

Can't download updates

I tried the repair disk permission and this didn't work. also tried emptying safari and reset and this didn't work either.

Any other suggestions?
