can't drag clips within or outside of project

Hello - I'm new to al of this so apologise if there have been previous posts on this topic. I couldn't find it through the search.

My project is DV-PAL and I haven't opened it for over a month but now I can't drag any clips to the timeline or into a new project. They just won't budge - what can I do? I am using imovie 6.
